A Photo Field Trip | PERSONAL
This year I took a leap and went to something called "FieldTrip". My dear friend Triniti Jensen and I took off from Omaha, Nebraska and landed in lovely Santa Barbara, California. We met up with 400+ other incredible photographers from around the world to learn from the very best in the industry. We stayed at El Capitan Canyon, where some of us slept in cabins and some in tents. The grounds were clean and BIG. Everywhere we went was a bit of a walk, especially from our cabin.
We were breathing in inspiration and breathing out new ideas. It was a boost for my dry creative soul. I was nourished and watered and believed in. It was incredible. We also had the opportunity to connect with awesome businesses like Artifact Uprising and Squarespace. Canon, Indie Film Lab and other incredible companies were creating and sharing in the experience with us.
My favorite people to connect with and learn from were Kristen Marie Parker (her class was creating space for real emotions) and Brinson and Banks (these two taught on personal projects). I went to plenty of other classes but these two classes especially taught me something.
Here are images I created on downtime. I didn't shoot everyday. I didn't pull my camera out that often actually. I wanted to connect with others and meet new friends. I was intentionally trying to be fully present. And I'm grateful I did so. However, here are the handful I took away from the trip...
The biggest bummer and the one thing I WISH I would have done is have someone snap a photo of Triniti and I together. I had such a good time bonding with her. Forever besties!! <3 Love you Trin!
